A gentle first swim class with a parent or caregiver in the water. Babies get to know the pool through songs, eye contact, supported movement and calm repetition.
One of 11 levels between a first float and the swim team. Each one starts where the one before it ends.
Your baby meets each of these in your arms, when they are ready for it.
Gentle sensory play in warm water, so the pool becomes a familiar, pleasant place.
Your baby explores the water held by the person they know best, with your face and your voice close the whole time.
Early breath awareness, and a light sprinkle of water on the face when your baby is ready for it.
Front and back floats with your hands beneath them, so your baby feels the water hold them up.
Safe, comfortable movement with you, set to songs and repeated until it feels familiar.

Babies usually move up around their first birthday. The coach also looks at how comfortable they are in the water, how they join in, and whether they are developmentally ready.
